Antinomies

Samuel Atlas

pp. 180-218

Abstrakt

Maimon lived in an intellectual climate totally different from that of Maimonides; his philosophical interests, therefore, revolved around a different center. Yet many aspects of his thought can be traced to the influence of the twelfth-century philosopher. In his philosophy of language and in his ethics the impress of Maimonides is particularly manifest. It is my prupose to discuss here Maimon's treatment of the problem of antinomies, his interpretation and criticism of Maimonides, and to trace his relationship to the latter in his criticism of Kant's approach to this problem, as well as in his own solution of it.
