Systems ideas have commonly been used to guide interventions into organisational and societal situations. Many systems methodologies exist to provide frameworks which enable understanding to be gained and improvement generated in specific cases. The use of systems ideas to understand how interventions relate to each other and how this can be used to improve upon the effectiveness of current and future interventions has rarely been addressed, however. Much of the work on how to intervene with a system and change it has focused upon a process independent of other similar activities. In this chapter a model of a system of interventions is developed and illustrated by reference to those carried out from the Centre for Community OR at Hull University.
