Introduction

the question of sexual identity

William Wilkerson

pp. 1-11

Abstrakt

In 1993, the wealthy gay neighborhood of West Hollywood picked a neuroscientist to be the grand marshal of its gay pride parade—an unusual honor for a member of that esoteric profession. What had he done to earn this queer accolade on his curriculum vitae? Putting it in the most clinical terms, he had removed the brains from some people who had died of AIDS, stained some of their parts, and measured their size.
