The Chewa concept of beauty and meaning
pp. 107-115
Abstrakt
The chapter focuses on the concept of beauty in an African setting. It builds on the general objective and subjective conceptions of beauty, and argues that Chichewa language shows preference towards a subjective conception. The chapter argues against the contention that the moral conception of beauty is representative of African understanding of beauty.
