The aim of this paper is to consider views concerning logic and its philosophy of two Polish philosophers: Henryk Struve and Władysław Biegański. The analysis of their works shows that both belonged rather to the traditional understanding of logic as a science of rational thinking. Their views on the place of logic as well as on its relations with philosophy and mathematics are presented. They are contrasted with views of their contemporaries working in logic (in particular Wł. Kozłowski and Wł. M. Kozłowski) and with views of Jan Łukasiewicz, the leading representative of the Lvov-Warsaw School. Our analysis leads to the conclusion that Struve and Biegański, being representatives of the traditional pre-mathematical approach to logic, stood on the threshold of the new paradigm.
