Phantoms following amputation of the brEast
pp. 101-116
Abstrakt
Kurt Goldstein was my teacher—a warm and generous preceptor, ever-stimulating, setting high standards, never satisfied with the easy answers or the facile pseudo-solutions of pseudo-problems. When I began to study the phantom phenomena that follow amputation or denervation he said with considerable pleasure: "That is about the only problem on which I have never published." Much of my thinking has been directed by the many discussions we had on this topic, as well as on many others. Within the last year or two I had the opportunity to tell him in preliminary fashion about the study to be presented below. He thought the problem was an important one, and the results did not come as a surprise to him.
